JOSEPH RODRIGUEZ, EXECUTIVE CHEF
Executive Chef Joseph Rodriguez is a perfect fit for Carmel Valley’s WESTROOT tavern. He was born and raised in Rancho Peñasquitos and now resides in Sabre Springs. There is no better way to give Carmel Valley what it wants than with an infusion of homegrown talent and awareness of the area’s tastes and trends. He ventured to study Culinary Arts in Orange County, and in 2004, following graduation, began working in kitchens up and down California’s coast. Fortunately, the people and charm of San Diego were enough to lure him back.
Chef Joseph originally crossed paths with the Verant Group in 2012 during the planning stages of barleymash. He worked as the Sous Chef, a backbone of the kitchen, for three thriving years. Now in 2016, both the Verant Group and Chef Joseph understands that WESTROOT tavern is the perfect next step to build something very special for the community.
